Hey, I’m Devin and I love all things creative.
Grand Rapids born and raised, I’m a proud Michigander. The offspring of a fine artist and a graphic designer, my education in the arts started at home. While other kids were doing normal kid stuff, I was teaching myself photoshop on my mom’s Macintosh II and hanging from canvas clamps on my dad’s next painting.
My formal education began in high school when I earned a certificate in Graphic Communication from Kent Career/Tech Center followed by duel-enrollment at Kendall College of Art & Design. I continued at Kendall for both undergrad and grad school, earned a BFA in Illustration with a minor in Digital Media, was valedictorian of my graduating class, and returned for my MFA in Drawing, which I completed in 2010.
MY CAREER... SO FAR
I have been working professionally as a visual artist for over 20 years. My range of experience includes graphic design, print design and production, fine art, illustration, hand lettering, chalk board and sign art, portraits, website design, ad campaigns, social media marketing and design, cake decorating, murals, t-shirt graphics, and the list goes on…
As well as teaching my own classes and workshops, I have been an Adjunct Professor for the past 10 years at both Kendall College of Art & Design and Grand Valley State University. While at Kendall, I have taught a vast array of drawing, graphic design, and illustration classes, as well as two original courses of my own — “Digital Processes for Artists” and “New Media in Contemporary Drawing.”
DESIGN WITH HEART
Hatch began in 2016 and continues to grow and evolve. While primarily serving local small businesses and clients, we have worked with people all over the U.S. as well. Hatch is more than just a design firm — I believe in the people I work with and get excited to bring their ideas to life.
